Research Associate- Microbiology

OVERVIEW

Matrubials Inc. is offering a full-time position as a Research Associate in Microbiology. The ideal candidate with a Microbiology, Biochemistry or Food Science background, will evaluate the impact of peptides on pathogenic and commensal bacteria and carry out in vitro infection assays. This position requires in-person R&D activities in Davis, CA and will support project execution to advance federally funded and foundation supported proposals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum one year of related laboratory experience is required.
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in microbiology or molecular biology, biochemistry or life science degrees. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience of standard microbiology techniques (media preparation, aseptic technique, bacterial isolations and basic experience with mammalian cell culturing).
Molecular techniques (DNA/RNA purification, PCR and qPCR).
Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE

Clinical microbiology, drug-resistant infections, microbiome and antibiotics.

Must haves- Good time management, documentation skills, independent thinking and multi-tasking ability and a strong interest in learning additional assays as required for project development
